Connecting a Smart Meter (P1)

Introduction

In the Netherlands, virtually every small-consumer connection is equipped with a smart meter. This meter records energy consumption digitally and automatically sends readings to the energy supplier. As a result, meter readings no longer need to be taken manually, and consumption can be monitored much more accurately. Every smart meter has a mandatory P1 port, which allows the user to read out the measurement data themselves. The Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. uses this P1 port to read electricity consumption and the data from the connected smart gas meter.

Smart meters comply with the DSMR standard (Dutch Smart Meter Requirements). Several versions are in use, such as DSMR 2.2, 3, 4, and 5. The Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. supports all variants. The read-out frequency differs per DSMR version:

  • DSMR 2.2 through 4: electricity every 10 seconds, gas every 60 minutes
  • DSMR 5: electricity every 1 second, gas every 5 minutes

When the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. needs to control based on the smart meter's measurement, DSMR version 5 is the minimum requirement due to its higher read-out speed. However, peak shaving based on a smart meter is not recommended, because the smart meter transmits data too slowly to reliably detect power peaks.

Connecting smart meters

The Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. is equipped with a P1 communication port (port 3) to which a maximum of one smart electricity meter can be connected, optionally followed by one smart gas meter.

The Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. is supplied with an RJ12 P1 cable. This can be plugged directly into the P1 port of the smart meter and into the P1 connection of the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting..

The smart meter has already been fully configured by the grid operator and can be read out immediately once the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. is connected. After connecting, the meters can be added and configured in the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting..
