Zero feed-in

In brief

The Zero feed-in measures, via a kWh meter, the energy flowing through the main connection multiple times per second, and ensures that the connected assets never exceed the contracted capacities and/or fuse value. When energy may not be fed back to the grid, this control strategy ensures that generation is curtailed in time to prevent feed-in as much as possible. In combination with other (local) control strategies or third-party control, this functionality ensures that operation always remains within the local limits of the connection.

How it works

In some situations, it may occur that no energy may be fed back to the grid connection at all, while generation is present. For this purpose, the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. monitors the connection via a kWh meter and curtails the connected devices when necessary. For locations where feed-in is not permitted, this control strategy therefore ensures that the connected devices are adjusted so that feed-in is prevented as much as possible.

The example above shows a location where feed-in is not permitted; generation is only limited when it threatens to exceed consumption. When consumption changes, this is adjusted to maintain as close to 'zero' on the connection as possible, until generation is no longer sufficient.

Additional information

Zero feed-in is often applicable to systems with only a connected PV installation, but can also be combined with other devices and control strategies, such as EV chargers & Load balancing, or battery systems and Storage Control by Third Party.

What about an existing power control strategy?

If a power-limiting control strategy is active on the generation or storage installation, this is taken over by the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting.. This prevents conflicts between both systems and local power limits. When multiple control strategies operate independently of each other, this can lead to instability ("hunting") or error messages in the installation. It is therefore necessary that the existing power control strategy is integrated into the Envi.Baseenvi.base De energiecontroller van Envitron die apparaten uitleest, aanstuurt en data opslaat achter de hoofdaansluiting. and removed from the original installation configuration. This is fully handled during installation.

What is the difference between the Connection Monitor and Peak-shaving?

Peak-shaving is a separate control strategy that actively deploys the battery to prevent the grid connection from being exceeded. This control strategy actively manages the battery system to absorb consumption, whereas the Connection Monitor only ensures that the assets themselves remain within the set limits.
